Hello Bill: I am pleased to advise that our dates for the 5^th Anniversary Tournaments in High River are the following:

5^th Annual Singles Tournament June 16, 17, 18, 19^th, 2012 and the Mixed Doubles Tournament will be held on August 17, 18, 19, 2012

We are going to have some special events and will share that with you and the others when we have finalized the events. In the meantime please advise people of our dates for 2012

Club’s 75th Anniversary.

Started in 1937 in New Smyrna Beach, the old Coronado* club is still going strong, now Coronado/Mainland Shuffleboard Club. There was a great birthday party held in conjunction with the annual Mayor’s Tournament. Here’s some pictures – (1) Our oldest playing member, Janet Gutowski, instructs Mayor Adam Barrenger for the ceremonial opening “shot”. (2) The beautiful model tableau of shuffleboard players at the Mayors tournament (created many years ago, and very well preserved!). (3) The 75th anniversary cake (there was enough left over to send a pice home to our Master Teacher, Bob Finta, who is home recovering from a heart procedure.)

HAPPY 75th CORONADO / MAINLAND. Come and see us – get on SR44 and drive east until you get sand between your toes!

Two interesting shuffleboard websites

These I found this morning, coffee cup in one hand, mouse in the other, while browsing through a couple of shuffleboard websites.

A good history of shuffleboard on the German Shuffleboard Association website – http://www.shuffleboarder.de/content/view/61/76/lang,en/. Lots of other stuff there too.
A well done website with shuffleboard information and explanations is the home of the Green Valley Shuffleboard Club (Arizona). They seem to have lots of activities available for members – a key to success! http://www.greenvalleyshuffleboard.com/index.html

This picture and caption appeared recently. By the way, we ar growing with over 25 new members (new shufflers) so far this year. We hope to have the Mayor of New Smyrna Beach and all the City Commissioners out to help us with the opening ceremonies of our Mayors Tournament on February 6 and 7th – also our 75th Anniversary!
